St. John’ s Church, Huntington
Serving Long Island since 1745, St. John’s was incorporated as a parish in 1838, after a complicated post-Revolutionary War history.
PROJECT DETAILS
The Racial Reconciliation and Social Justice Ministry Committee of the parish has produced their final report on the history of St. John’s complicity with slavery. This is a superb report, the result of significant research by this team of parishioners. I invite everyone to read the report attached here below. Underneath that is a recording of a presentation made by the Historian of the Town of Huntington, Robert C. Hughes, on slavery in that town, given at St. John’s on February 24, 2022.
